The windmill contest group meet for HFNFD, VHFNFD, SSBFD, and the 6 hour Marconi 144MHz CW contest in November. Occasonally we get together for other contests. The group AGM is held during the first full weekend in July in a field on a hilltop near Ashford in Kent (JO01LD). For membership details contact me using the feedback form.
The aims of the group are simple :-
To eat large quantities of curry.
To see how we do in the VHF contests look in the VHFCC results pages.
It is rumored that photographs of the results of too much of the other aims are in circulation.
Most of the images on this site are from field day events. Some of the pictures on this site are quite large - please be patient or spend some money on a broadband connection.
144MHz November CW
For many years (although not every) now we have won the 6 hour multi operator section of the November CW contest - possibly because there has been no real competition (OK so we were the only entry one year). If your club is active on 2M why not put an entry in - there is no need to go out portable for this contest and there is usually plenty of european activity. See the rules on the VHFCC site. If we are the only entrants for much longer the RSGB may delete this contest from the calendar, leaving us no choice but to stay in The Cock at Luddesdown all weekend. You owe it to our livers to enter this contest !
Due to a sharp drop in club membership we entered the restricted (full power) section of VHF NFD for a few years. In 2000 the VHFCC changed the rules to make the restricted section 25W so we moved back to the open section.
Our field day site is located on the top of the North Downs near Ashford, Kent in JO01LD.
We usually use these callsigns:
| Band | Callsign | Operators |
| 50MHz | G3GRS/P | G4BUO, G4TSH |
| 70MHz | G3GRS/P | G4BUO, G4TSH |
| 144MHz | G0FBB/P | G0AFH, G4IFB |
| 432MHz | G0HSS/P | G0HSS, G4HTD |
| 1296MHz | G0FDZ/P | G0FDZ, G8XIR, G4FJW |
| Support | G6ALJ |
